The duties and responsibilities of the Financial Co-Ordinator are performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Finance/Treasurer and the Accounting Manager. Responsibilities: • Maintenance of municipal investment portfolio including including purchasing, investments, recording of transactions and preparation of reports. • Assistance in preparation of reports to Council relating to financial issues. • Overall supervision of Accounting Division in absence of Accounting Manager. • Provide technical assistance to the various departments departments on a regular basis in analysis and interpretation of monthly financial information. • Co-ordinate with the Municipality's financial institutions to implement improved banking technologies. • Responsible for overall co-ordination and assistance in preparation of all municipal financial statements and performance measures. • Provide advice and assistance with respect to complex tax policy matters relating to Provincial legislation. • Provide a support role in development of special,policy areas, ie. development charges background study. • Provide assistance in implementation of new financial software. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Graduate of a university program in commerce or Business Administration or of a 3-year Community College business program with an accounting or finance major. • Completion of or advanced standing in a recognized accounting designation program (CA, CMA, CGA). • At least five years experience in a finance environment (municipal experience an asset). • Strong demonstrated computer skills. • Proven written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports for Council, other staff and the public. • Supervisory skills are essential. Award of this position will be based on written and oral testing which will be conducted as part of the interview process.
