On Friday, April 12, 2002, Council passed the Municipality's Current and Capital Budget with an overall 2.3 % levy increase. The Budget included some much-anticipated capital projects such as: The extension of Longworth Avenue over the Bowmanville Creek and west to Regional Road #57, the reconstruction of Concession Street, other road and parking lot improvements, increased parking enforcement, two transit buses, various trail upgrades, park upgrades, construction of the South Courtice Community Park (twin ice pad), furnishings for library, fire pumper and new fire communications equipment as well as many other much needed projects. Final Tax rates have not yet been set as we are awaiting clarification or amendment of a Provincial Regulation. Final bill due dates will be advertised when bills are ready. • Please consider taking advantage of our pre-authorized payment plan. This will help in cash flow planning and allow you to spread the cost evenly over the year. PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNERS TO DESTROY NOXIOUS WEEDS Notice is hereby given to all persons in possession of land, in accordance with the Weed Control Act, R.S.0.1990, Chapter W. 5, Sections 3,16 and 23, that unless noxious weeds growing on their lands within the Municipality of Clarington are destroyed by June 1, 2002, and throughout the season thereafter, the weed inspector may enter upon the said lands and have the weeds destroyed, charging the costs against the land, and that such amounts shall be collected by the municipality in the same manner manner as taxes under The Municipal Act. Mr. Stewart, who has been contracted by the Municipality, will provide identification to show that he is authorized to sell licences on behalf of the Municipality. The Clarington Animal Services By-law requires that all dogs and cats be licenced each year.
