More local businesses plan to hire in January, February and March than last year during the same period, according according to the first-quarter employment employment outlook survey by Manpower Inc. Those numbers are slightly up from the same period a year ago. Only 10 per cent of employers in Durham predicted personnel gains for the start of 2002, while 14 per. cent expected cutbacks. Canadian employers are more divided divided over their hiring plans, Manpower Manpower Inc. reports. While 15 per cent envision new opportunities, 16 per cent predict reductions. Another 67 per cent anticipate no change, while the remaining two per cent are unsure.
