Position would be filled on interim basis until municipal ■ election in November BY JENNIFER STONE Staff Writer CLARINGTON - The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board is set to begin advertising to find a trustee to serve Clarington until November's November's municipal election. The board is required by the Education Education Act to fill the position left vacant vacant after the death of long-time Clarington Clarington trustee Bob Willsher, who passed away in March after a long battle battle with cancer. Mr. Willsher had served as trustee since 1982. The new trustee will join Nancy Coffin as Clarington's representative at the board table. The board will place advertisements advertisements in newspapers across its jurisdiction jurisdiction "looking for people to consider consider the position of trustee until the end of the term," which ends at Nov. lO's municipal election, says KPR chairman chairman Angela Lloyd. A replacement is expected to be in place in time for the board's late May meeting. In spite of the short time before the upcoming municipal election, the board is required to fill the position, though it can use any of a number of methods to determine who will take on the role. They could have called a full election, which would have been "extremely costly," says Ms. Lloyd. The board could also go to the election election list from the last election to find a suitable replacement or, as it is doing, make an appointment to the board after accepting applications. Trustees will do interviews with applicants .to determine who should get the job. While applications will be accepted accepted from across the board, "we will specify we arc looking for someone to hold the position of trustee for the area of Clarington," says Ms. Lloyd.
