MCMULLEN, Frank Amos - Peacefully on Sunday April 20th, 2003. Frank was born in Orono, Ontario in 1914. As a teenager, he delivered delivered bread to the farming community by horse and buggy. After graduating from Toronto Toronto Normal School he taught in several one room schools in Durham County before becoming becoming principal of Newcastle Public School. He is the founder of the Newcastle Men's Hockey League and was a Mason, active with the Newcastle chapter. In 1954, Frank ended his teaching career and moved his family to Scarborough and started Summerhill Market in Rosedale where he worked until retiring in 2002. Predeceased by his wife June (Hanna) and son Barry and survived by sons Wayne (Sandy), Bob, Don and daughter Glenda. Fondly remembered by grandchildren Jenny, Karen, Greg, Brad, Christie, Cam and Corry. Also survived by his sister Dorothy Bell of Garden Hill and her sons. Maustyn farmed in the Uxbridge area for many years and was well known and respected in the community and surrounding areas. He was Past Master of Xeredelba Masonic Lodge, in Uxbridge, Ontario and a member of the Snccoib Chaîner, Masonic Lodge, in Uxbridge, he was past Worthy patron of the Order of ihe Eastern Star, Snniand Chapter, Sunderland, Ontario. Maustyn served his community and his neighbours as a local and regional councilor for eighteen years. He is survived by his wife, Audrey McKnight, and his sister Gloria Harder of Sunderland, Ontario. He was a dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and cherished friend to so many of us. He was loved and honoured by a wide circle of family and friends. A memorial service was held at Venture HI in Jensen Beach, Florida on March 11, 2003 for Maustyn's many friends and neighbours who lived and wintered in the United States. He is remembered there for his helpfulness and sense of community. He was an eager and cheerful resource to his neighbours and had a great love of playing pool with his pals in Venture III and working on his computer. Mans had a ready knowledge of computers, entirely self gained since lie purchased his first VC in 1992, and was always available to help others set up anti understand their machines. A Canadian memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church, 20 First Street, Uxbridge, Ontario LOG 1KO on Saturday, April 26th, 2003 p.m, with internment at Foster Memorial Cemetery to follow. A reception to celebrate his life will beheld beheld at the Trinity United Church Hall after the service. Mans is sadly missed by his family and friends, but lie is remembered and honoured for his strength of commitment, duty and purpose and the unfailing honesty of his journey through life. He was a friend to so many - unselfish and unstinting in his treatment of those he knew and loved. The strength of his character lives on in the hearts of those of us who loved him and he will never be a mentor)' but a living presence in our lives. He was always there for us. In troubled times, he was ready with a kind.word and well considered advice. He was a strong and self sufficient man - a farmer - weathered and hardy, but a man of infinite patience and such kindness and gentleness as only a strong man can possess.
