This includes: • Conducting project research including the Oak Ridges Moraine. • Development of planning databases. The Planning Intern position will be available for 18 weeks from May, 2003 through to August 29, 2003. Qualifications: • Preferably completed at least three (3) years within a Planning Program at a university. • Sound writing and communication skills. • A thorough knowledge of Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and database programs. • Sound research and analytical skills including survey design and administration skills. • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). • Land use planning and urban design skills. The successful candidate will work under the supervision supervision of the Manager of the Special Projects and the Manager of Community Planning and Design. Students will be required to attend interviews at the Municipal Administrative Centre in Bowmanville. Gross Salary: $15.45 per hour (35 hour work week) Only those applicants selected for an Interview will be contacted. Library service in Bowmanville is currently suspended suspended while staff moves contents from 62 Temperance Street into 163 Church Street. The drop-box at the new Main Branch - Bowmanville on Church Street is open during the move, allowing the public to drop off material. The public is reminded that library service is available at the other three Clarington Public Library branches. The Courtice, Newcastle Village and Clarke Branches are open their regular hours. The library's website and catalogue at www.clarington-library.on.ca is also operational during the move. Monday, May 5th will mark the first day of operations in the new Main Branch of Clarington Public Library, with the doors opening at 10 a. m. TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PRESTONVALE ROAD, COURTICE P restonvale Road will be closed to through traffic from Bloor Street (Region Road 22), northerly to Glenabbey Drive commencing approximately May 1, 2003 for a period of approximately 12 weeks for reconstruction. Through traffic will be detoured via Glenabbey Drive to Townline Road South to the west and Trulls Road to the east of the closure following D-2 signs. Access to Dr. G.J.MacGillivray Public School will be maintained via Meadowglade Road and northerly on Prestonvale Road until mid June 2003. After mid June the school can be accessed from a new southern extension of Robert Adams Drive. Prestonvale Road south of Bloor Street to 500m south of Southfield Avenue will be open to traffic but delays should be expected due to road •works until mid May 2003. The Samuel Wilmot Nature Area Management Advisory Committee Invites You To Join In: An EARTH DAY Celebration O n Saturday April 26th 2003 starting at 10:00 a.m. we will be celebrating celebrating Earth Day at the Samuel Wilmot Nature Area. This year's events will begin on the east side of the wetland in the new parking parking lot at the end of Toronto Street. As part of the celebrations a hike through the east side of Nature Area will take place. The day's events will also include the opening of our new parking lot, the unveiling of our new Snake Hibernaculum, a presentation and exhibit of live native snakes by the Indian River Reptile Zoo, and volunteer shrub planting. This is an opportunity to come out and enjoy one of the nicest natural areas that our community has to offer and to celebrate Earth Day. Events will begin in the east parking lot of the Samuel Wilmot Nature Area. To get there take Highway 2 or 401 to Mill Street. Just south of the 401 on the west side of Mill Street is Toronto Street.
