The Dodgers swept the St. Thomas Storm in their Intercounty Baseball League home opener doubleheadcr Saturday at Kinsmen Stadium, but fell a run short Sunday at Christie Pits against the defending champion Toronto Maple Leafs. The Dodgers beat St. Thomas 8-7 in the first game of their doubleheader, bouncing back from 6-0 deficit after the first two innings. In the second game, Oshawa took control and calmed the Storm with a 6- 1 victory. A hit in the bottom of the ninth by the Maple Leafs broke the 1-1 tie and lifted Toronto over the Dodgers Sunday. Toronto scored in the fourth, Oshawa tied the game in the seventh on an RBI single from Martin, and with two out in the ninth Toronto's Mike Reid drove in the game winning run for a 2-1 Toronto victory. "We were right there all game," says Troy May, manager and owner of the Dodgers. "It shows we can play with any team in the league this year."
