The Red Devils went undefeated in round robin play in the May 16-18 tournament with three wins (7-5, 8-2, 5-2) and a tie (3- 3). Despite trailing 5-2 in the championship game with nine minutes remaining, remaining, the Red Devils came back to post an 8-5 win. With the victory, the team earned an invite to the King of the Rings Champions Champions Tournament in late August. August. Darlington U17 reach finals at Oshawa tourney OSHAWA - The Darlington Darlington Storm U17 girls' team, sponsored by Deighton Associates, strung together three consecutive consecutive wins to reach the finals of the Oshawa Kicks Early Bird Invitational. Darlington finished at the top of its pool by defeating defeating Whitby 3-1 and Oshawa Oshawa Kicks 1-0. The semifinals semifinals matched Darlington against London, with the Storm prevailing 1-0. The victory set up a championship game against the provincial team from Richmond Hill. Injuries and a lack of substitutions for Darlington provided Richmond Hill with the advantage, advantage, with Darlington capturing the finalist trophy .for the second year in a row. Aleisha Marchant led Darlington with a pair of goals, while Jana Cryder- man, Marissa Reynen and Jessica Santos had one each. The U 16 2002 Division I champions have moved up and are compéting in the highly competitive Premier Division. This year's team consists consists of Sarah Gearing, Merissa Partington, Krys- tine Britton, Lisa Gilmore, Jen Wilkinson, Taryn Ovens, Jana Cryderman, Aleisha Marchant, Amanda Leonard, Marisa Reynen, Laura Tozer, Tara Wilt, Jessica Jessica Santos, Robyn Brouse, Meghan Saari, Katie Gardner Gardner and Kristen Marano. Underage callup Miranda Canonico also contributes to the success of the team.
