The OMHA Tournament of Champions will be hosted this year by the Toros from March 24-26. Bathe and McLellan closed out the regular season with a 4-2 win over the Central Ontario Wolves and playoff opponents Quinte by a 5-2 score. The wins put the Toros solidly in second spot with 17 wins, 8 losses, and 5 lies for 39 points. Scoring for the Toros against the Wolves were Allen Dil- lion, Mathew Raco, Geoff Powell and . Cory Giroux. Brandon Castellan, Eric Vis- sor, Mitch Callieu, Brandon Coutu and Chris Marchant drew assists. In the Quinte win, Castellan Castellan led the scoring with three assists followed by goals by Stephan Bathe, Marchant, Daniel McCarthy, Couto and Giroux. A sweet victory victory was won against the top têam in the division, as the tyros played an outstanding g&me to beat Port Perry 3-2. Valant goaltending by Addison Addison Forsyth helped lead the teem to this impressive win. All players were successful during the last few games of the season in helping out the team with goals and assists. Contributions included Cameron Cameron Black-Araujo (4g,7a), Casey Doiron (lg), Gerrit Dciorenspleet (lg,la), Benjamin Benjamin Glaspell (lg), Mike Liinny (2g), Samuel Glaspell (lg,7a), Andrew Gurr (6g,2a), John Paul Mon- teiro (la), Brandon Pallister (lg,la), Evan Ritchey (la), Adam Rogers (lg,la), Reil ly Smith (lg,la), Matthew Valic (lg) and Owen Verrydt (lg). Throughout the season Forsyth and Micheal Akeson . both turned in solid efforts in goaltending. Playoffs began with a round robin against second place Trenton and seventh place Oshawa. After eight hard fought games, the Toros had a 1-5-2 record. The boys were able to tie their last game with Trenton which ended up knocking Trenton Trenton out of the OMHA playoffs. playoffs. The team now looks forward forward to entering the Lake- shore League playoffs. on K-Town KINGSTON - Athletes from Clarington Gymnastics Gymnastics Academy attended their 2nd Provincial Qualifier in Kingston, which will ultimately ultimately lead to Elite Ontario and Provincial Championships Championships in April.. . Nicholas are heading to playoffs Prevail in must-win ' game over Oshawa CLARINGTON - The Clarington S.J, Nicholas AAA Atom Toros have managed managed to grab a playoff spot. With three wins and two lies in the New Year they have held off an attack by Peterborough and Oshawa to land a playoff dale with Whitby, hi the first game of 2006 they tied Richmond Mill 3- 3." In one of the Toros best defensive games they shut out Oshawa by a score of ■ 3-0. The next game was against the second place Quinte Red Devils and the Toros exploded for eight goals and whipped the Red Devils 8- 4. The next opponent for the Atoms was Central Wolves and the Toros managed to scratch out a 1-1 tic. It came down to a must win game against. Oshawa and the Atoms performed up to expectation and defeated Oshawa 3-1. It has been a bit up and down for the Atoms but they won when they had to and showed they can be a very tough team to beat.
