After falling short in the semifinals in two of their previous tournaments, the team was able to break through to get to Play It Again busy ■ CLARINGTON -- The Clarington Play It Again Sports Novice AA Toros have been busy in the York Simcoe playoffs. The first game produced a 4-1 win over Oshawa as Jordan Nesbitt notched a hat trick and Brendan Goldsworthy added the other. Assists went to Adam Loudfoot, Cameron Lowery (2), Jack Chesson and Kyle Staal. Evan Cormier played in net making a number of great saves. Four different Toros scored in a 4-4 draw against the Peterborough Nationals. Scoring Scoring for the team were Michael Swaine,. Zachary Treen, Nesbitt and Lowery. Helping Helping with assists were Goldsworthy (3), Braydon Bumpus, Loudfoot (2) and Bran- ' don Bryant. Helping between the pipes was Tyler Parkin and Cormier. In Game 3 the Toros had to settle for a 4-3 loss against Oshawa. Scoring for the ■ team in this game was Treen (2) and Nesbitt. Nesbitt. Setting up the goals were Loudfoot, Jake Moreau, Lowery, Goldsworthy and Nesbitt. Cormier helped the team in this outing providing solid goaltending. Game 4 had the Toros double Peterborough'4-2. Peterborough'4-2. Marking goals on the scoreboard during this game were Lowery assisted by Treen, Chesson, Swaine and Nesbitt all unassisted. Providing super goaltending in this game was Parkin. The Toros recorded a similar 4-2 win over Whitby in a fantastic game played by all. Scoring for the team was Treen with a pair, Bryant and Lowery. Assists went to Nesbitt, Miehm and Moreau. Terrific Terrific defensive play by the Toros helped the team to ensure this win, with the help of Cormier in net. It was more of the same against Whitby as the Toros eàmed another win of 2-0. Cormier earned the shutout, while Nesbitt and Treen scored on assists from Loudfoot and Bryant. The final game resulted in a 3-1 loss to Pickering. Nesbitt scored the only goal assisted by Lowery and Loudfoot. LIVE ENTERTAINMENT O,, SAT. Clarington earned a bye into the semifinals on the strength of a 1-1 tie with Mississauga. Picco netted the lone marker for the Flames. The Flames advanced to the finals winning 1-0 in a tightly contested game against Stratford. Nicole Starkey scored the goal, while the shutout was earned by the tandem goaltending of Nicolena Weber and Taylor Malolepszy-Beth. The final produced an exciting back and forth contest with both teams tallying a goal each. Hillary Cawker scored the goal for the Flames. Mississauga scored the winner in the second minute of the 3 on 3 OT period. The Orioles usually play a 24 game regular season schedule in Eastern Ontario Baseball Association (EOBA) covering an area from Kingston to Scarborough. The regular season runs from the middle of May until the . end of July. Generally teams will book two to three tournaments a year also. Playoffs start in August and ends with the All Ontario Championships on the Labour Day weekend.
