Mr. Kruis is currently on a year sabbatical but in that time he's kept himself busy at The Knox Farm where he did more than 150 tours last fall and will be conducting even more educational educational tours this spring. In between lie's keeping busy helping helping organize Farm Connection 2006, which takes place April 4-6 in Brooklin. Farm Connections 2006 is being held at Vipond Memorial Arena and .will provide more than 1,200 students information about agriculture agriculture and food production and 'There's a waiting list. A lot of teachers wanted to come but since this was our first year we decided we could only do three days. Mr. Kruis said farming and agriculture are part of the Grade 3 curriculum making making this event perfect for them. "There's a waiting list. At Farm Connection 2006 students students will rotate through eight different farm-themed stations including: honey, apples, agricultural agricultural technology, dairy production/cheese production/cheese making, pork, beef, agriculture then and now and crop production. There will be a farmer at all stations to talk to students and answer their questions. After completing all eight stations students will watch a live cow-milking demonstration demonstration and compete the program by singing the Farm Connections theme song. "This event has never taken place before in all of Durham Region. So this is the first time for us to do it," said Mr. Kruis. Brooklin was selected as the sight for this event due to its agricultural agricultural background and its central central location in Durham Region. Mr. Kruis said the response from volunteers and teachers has been so overwhelming it will become an annual event. "It's amazing, I can't believe all the people and the support we've been given," he said.
