Prosecutor Glenn Brotherston said the woman defrauded the Region of more than $44,000 during that time by benefiting from social assistance she wasn't entitled to. "She clearly knew exactly what she was doing," Mr. Brotherston said. Court heard Ms. Boughner- Miniaci was a single parent of a child with special needs when she was accepted as a resident in an assisted housing housing project in 1998. But her status changed in April of the next year when she landed a $30,000 job with the Region, meaning she was no longer entitled to a rent subsidy. subsidy. M s .
