durhamregion.com Destroyers are off to great start CLARINGTON - The Darlington Darlington Destroyers Under-8 girls' soccer team is off to a flying start in their inaugural season. Opening with a 10-0 victory over Ajax # 2, the Destroyers fell 3-2 to Whitby #1 in a very exciting second game. The team then participated in the Whitby Tournament and went a very respectable 1-1-2 in four wet and soggy games, just missing a berth in the final. The Destroyers' third league game was against the tournament tournament champions from Pickering. A combination of timely scoring, scoring, strong defensive and orga nizational play secured a 3-0 victory. Members of this year's team are: Alicia Pallister, Kristen Thompson, Mikayla Morton, Alexandra Caputo, Savahnna Robinson, Sarah Matesic, Taylor Brazill, Leah Michel, Samantha Pierson, Madison Heard, Emma 3 TTiilTTS Meadows, Rylie Watson and Megan Pardy. The coaching staff consists of Head Coach Kerry Pallister, Asst. Nick Matesic and Team Manager Brent Thomp- -son.
