"Winning thé races and getting on that podium is ihe best part," says the 9-year-old of his favourite favourite part of motocross racing. It's a good thing he likes that best, because he docs it on a regular basis. So. much so in. fact, that the young rider has already qualified to compete at the National Championships that will be held in August. The Courtice resident has been the first to the finish line in all five events in the South Western Western Canadian Motorcycle Racing Club series, taking the checkered flag at tracks in Welland, Auburn, Parry Sound and Walton. Since the season began in April, he has totally dominated the 50cc 7-8 year-old division. The Grade 3 student at Mother Teresa says an initial ride on a bike one day at a cottage got him interested in heading to the track to race. - "My dad told, me, about it," he says of getting off a pedal bike and on to a motocross bike. "We went to the cottage one day and I said I wanted a bike and he got me one." With a few more tuneup races still remaining in the South CLARINGTON - In the Minor Peewce division of Clar- ington Minor Lacrosse, The Lax Shack faced off against Team #6, coming away with a narrow 7-6 victory at the Recreation Complex. Courtice scores nine in victory CLARINGTON - An exciting game between Courtice Team #3 and Bowmanville Team #3 resulted resulted in a 9-4 victory for Courtice. Scoring for Courtice were Lucas Joel with six and Connor Stevens with three goals. Scoring for Bowmanville Bowmanville were Owen Heeringa with three and Shane Arsenault with one. In LOSSA playoffs, Sinclair and Pickering reached the Tier 1 final, but weren't able to schedule the final prior to the OFSAA Regional playoffs, where Sinclair lost its final two games, 8-7 to Pickering and 11-1 to St. Mike's, to miss out on a chance to play for the Prentice Cup at the Rogers Centre.
