durhamregion.com Two suspects face 100 credit card charges Suspects traced to Uxbridge vehicle break-ins DURHAM ~ A lengthy crime spree involving stolen credit cards has led to more than 100 charges being laid against two people. The investigation, led by the north detachment of Durham Regional Police, dates back to last December, when several vehicles in Uxbridge were broken into. In one of those incidents, the suspects suspects stole items from a garage, entered a house and stole cheques and keys to a tmek. Credit cards were taken from a wallet in the truck and used for purchases in Oshawa, say police. Over the following months, police noted a pattern of thefts around the region involving garage remote controls being stolen stolen along with credit cards from homes and vehicles. Police say officers began to track the suspects suspects through store security video as the credit cards were being used. Information led investigators to an IGA store on Grandview Street in Oshawa on July 23, where a stolen card had been used. Two suspects were arrested at the same store on July 26, and police recovered recovered some of the cards and a stolen vehicle. Police are connecting the suspects suspects to 100 incidents across Durham, Durham, Peterborough, Northumberland, Northumberland, and Kawartha Lakes. Shona Reilly, 30, of no fixed address, is charged with possession possession and use of stolen credit cards, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of a controlled controlled substance. Jesse Reynolds, 27, of no fixed address, faces the same charges along with personation personation with intent, forgery, fraud, breach of undertaking, break and entering, and trespass at night. Teen trailed by van in Bowmanville BOWMANVILLE - Police have issued an alert after reports about a man approaching a teen- aged girl in Bowmanville. Police said a 15-year-old girl said she was followed by a man in a green van as she walked on Roenigk Drive, in the Hwy. 2 - Waverly road area, Friday afternoon. afternoon. The suspect, a white man . believed to be about 30, asked the girl if she needed a ride. After she declined his offer, he demanded she get in, police said. Councillor gets another court date it "■ fi.h lit Pit DURHAM - Another court date has been scheduled for a Pickering councillor facing fraud charges. A designate for Ward 1 Pickering Pickering Regional Councillor Maurice Brenner appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Oshawa on Aug. 4, where he requested more time and received a Sept. 8 court date. Coun. Brenner was charged in May after a police investigation. He is alleged to have submitted submitted false documents for reimbursement reimbursement claims and clerical services for more than $5,400 between 1999 and 2000.
