Page B2 ♦ THE CANADIAN STATESMAN ♦ September 13,2006 Generals Young team now 3-0 in OHL pre-season BY BRIAN MCNAIR Staff Editor OSHAWA - The Oshawa Generals' Generals' strong play so far this pre-season might be more indicative of what fans will see in a year or two rather than right now. Still, it's making coach/GM Brad Selwood a happy man. The Generals, going primarily with a lineup of players born in 1989 or 1990, are now 3-0 in exhibition play after defeating the Peterborough Petes 8-4 last Friday at the Civic Auditorium. "Everybody's missing 'Five or six guys, includ- durhamregion.com so far For more on this story, view the Sept. 11 webcast of Daily News durhane'eglon.com mg us, says. Selwood, trying to contain his enthusiasm for the quick start. "The .good news is these guys are really attentive, they're picking up the systems well. They're quick and they're tough to contain." The even better news is that the Generals Generals are winning games without their most important 1990-born player, John Tavares, who expects to be fully recovered recovered from a knee injury by the time the real season starts on Sept. 22, two days after his 16th birthday. Tavares, the OHL and CHL rookie of the year, took part in a couple of hard practices over the weekend, although he still hasn't seen any contact drills. Selwood will keep him out of the next three exhibition games, but says he should be ready for the season opener in Toronto against the St. Michael's Majors. , LIVE ENTERTAINMENT ^CLTHURS. The contractor will notify residents by a hand - delivered notice 24 hours prior, to the start of the cleaning operation on the street. The work will be carried out expeditiously with the least possible inconvenience to residents. Water will not be shut off so residents are cautioned not to draw any water, for any purpose, until the cleaning operation in that section is completed. Failure to observe this precaution could result in material being drawn into the building's plumbing system and possibly plugging the water line from the street to buildings. Once the cleaning operation is complete, (note the finish time on the hand delivered notice), we would ask that you turn on a cold water tap only and let it run for approximately three to five minutes before using hot water. It is advisable that you keep a supply of water, in containers, on hand for drinking, cooking and general purposes during this cleaning procedure. For further information on the work in Bowmanville please contact Eric Lamain, Region of Durham Works Department at (905)-260-0912 or the Orono Depot at (905)-983-5116. Thank you for your patience and co-operation. Durham Region Works Department Bwmimmmmmmmmmmmmmmmsmmm V
