The minutes of the previous meeting meeting were read 'and communications dealth with. The main business of this meeting meeting was the revising of the prize list for the coming Fair and some changes changes were made in the sheep classes. Last year in Glass 17, Southdowns and Suffolk Downs were shown together, together, land this year the Southdown» will be in a Class by themselves. It was generally agreed that, the IS'otith- down's are a hard class to show against by any other sheep classes, -and this is the reason why they have been returned 1 to a class by themselves. themselves. In Class 18, the Suffolk Downs have been added 1 with the Shropshire Downs ; and in Class 20-, a new class for sheep has been added to the list, Cheviots, and they will be shown with the Dorset Downs. 'Committees were formed for the canvassing of advertisements for the prize lists, and everyone is asked to oo-operate in this matter and do all in their power to help the Society by giving their advertisements to one of the various committees that will canvassing for ; same. The Dlownham Nurseries, Bowman- ville, through Mr. R. R Stevens, has - informed- the Society that 'the nurseries will give a donation of $5 for a special prize to be used for a boy's prize 15 years and under for .competition in driving a horse sfes at the "Pair. This prize will be only for boys living in Durham County .and is for the purpose of giving giving the boys , more experience in the handling of horses. This has been held over for more information, as the Society would like -to add a second second prize to this 'spécial, if the giver of the first prize is agreeable., Mrs. 0. W, -Ralph extended a hearty invitation to the Directors to hold their July meeting at their summer cottage at Newcastle on the lake. Mrs. O. W. Rolph Re- Elected President Of Orono Women's Institute You are the governors of the future. future. We invest in you the duty of safeguarding what is worthy and worthwhile in our past, -our heritage and our traditions. You are in charge of our honor and 'all: our hopes. It would foe for you to protect the democracies in whatever part -of the Empire you inlay -live. T'hase, must be defended from without, without, and equally they have to be defended defended from within. And it may well be that you will have to save democracy from , itself. You will have to show the world-- and in many parts of it .an exceedingly exceedingly critical world--that there is nothing nothing in democracy in its principles; purpose or methods', which necessarily necessarily produces timidity of outjlook and mediodrity in -achievement, Leadership Demanded Courage, discipline, efficiency are as necessary to democracy as they are to any dictatorship, and democracy democracy implies and demand's leadership nsessen t ially as any 'dictatorship, for it is ia leadership that has no force behind it. The freedom, for common men which wta to have been the fruit of victory once more is in jeopardy because it has been .taken away from the common men in other lands. You may attempt to explain these twenty years in terms of economics economics or terms of politics, but what is clear is that today Europe is neither neither at war nor pealce, but 'stands at armed -attention. But what is worse than this is that peace in some quarters is, proclaimed proclaimed as ,a bad dream and war is glorified- glorified- as the ideal for rational men. As long as the British Umpire lasts, we will raise our voices against these false gods. Let. -me end--.in' the last speech I will make before a great audience as Prime Minister -of tine country-- let me proclaim my faith, which is- the faith, of millions : of .all races from end to end of the British Empire.
