Bairstow, over the week-end. Glad to learn Mrs. W. W. Cornish will be back with us again soon, and hope she will continue to gain good health again. Harvest is well underway and threshing is also the style again. Grain is turning out fairly good in this district. Mr. Stanley Ball is doing a great business; in berries these days, giving employment to quite a number of our local ladies as pickers. Armstrong caught two nice brook trout last week near one was tweelve inches long and the other one 13 1-2 inches. Don't forget to turnout and see the last game of softball on Friday evening. Bach team has now won a game and the next will declare the winners of the league. Another dog was poisoned in town on Saturday morning, the large black dog owned by Mr. W. E. Armstrong. The dog was around with Mr. Geo. Butters at 9.30 a.m. and at 10.00 a. m. was found dead behind Dr. Ledger's Ledger's Dental Office and was immediately immediately buried by Mr. Butters'. This is the second dog that has received poison in the last few days, If the poison poison is being.set out for rats it needs to be placed in a safe spot, where other animals cannot get at it, hut if it is put out to destroy dogs or other pets, it is a criminal offence.
