While out skiing on the holiday at Kirby Ski hill, Dave Smith had the misfortune to break his leg and is a patient in Oshawa General Hospital. Mrs. Rea Cowan and Mr. Lyall Lowery of Orono, are patients in Bowmanville Memorial Memorial Hospital. They both are feeling some better. The holiday was saddened by the sudden passing of Mrs. Cliff Cowan (Mary Harris) of Bowmanville on Saturday, December 28th. While out skidooing with her husband and relatives at the home of her brothers, Mr. Lawrence Harris, she was stricken with a heart attack. The funeral was held from Morris Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, December December 31st. The sympathy of the community goes to Cliff Donnad and Carol and to her many relatives. - Mrs. C. Lowery and Mrs. E. Dobson of Starkville returned home Sat. evening from their holiday in Florida. The weather weather was lovely but it was very crowded in Florida over the holiday. Miss Louise Van Niejenhuis of' Michigan and John Van Niejenhuis of Waterloo, spent the Christmas holidays with their parents and family. Miss Karen Lowery, Newmarket Newmarket visited with her parents parents and family on Monday after spending the holidays in Houston, Texas. Miss Sharon Lowery returned to Peterborough Peterborough after holidaying at home. Mr. Howard Pearce of Newcastle brother-in-law of Mrs. Harold Ransberry, passed passed away suddenly on Saturday Saturday December 28th at his home. The funeral was held on Tuesday, December 3lst from Morris Funeral Home. Christmas Holiday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Harris, Douglas and Charles, were Mrs. A. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Williams and family, Orono, Mrs. Mabel Williams and family of Pembroke, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Harris, Douglas and Charles were guests New Years with Mr. and Mrs. Ron Harris, Richard and Kim. Christmas guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Reid were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cook, Uxbridge, Robert and Bonnie Reid and family, Bill and Judy and family, Barbara and Sam Shetler and family, Newton- ville, Elizabeth Oakley and family of Nova Scotia. The annual meeting of Kirby United Church will be held at Kirby on Tuesday evenings January 4th. Christmas Day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Ball were Mr. Gordon Walker and Gail of Thornhill, Miss Susan Ball and Mr. Les Hrebicek of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mercer, Kenny and Trevor of Hampton, Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Patterson, Orono. There is to be another card party at Kirby Centennial school this coming Saturday evening. Come out and have a good time. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Jose and children of Newcastle were Christmas Eve guests of her mothers, Mrs. S.Chapman and Clair. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Touchburn, Orono enjoyed Christmas dinner with Mrs. S.
