Federation elects new officers The Federation of Agriculture Agriculture for this area has been reorganized. Following dis- solvement of the Durham County Federation of Agriculture Agriculture at the end of last year the former townships of Darlington, Clarke and Car- wright have now become part of the Durham Region Federation Federation of Agriculture. Asking conditional Darlington approval Ontario Hydro is seeking Conditional site approval for their proposed Darlington Nuclear Generating Station in the Town of Newcastle. The conditional site approval is being sought from the Atomic Energy" Control Board as a first step in many to locate the nuclear station within the Town of Newcastle. Mr. Ross Figgett points out that upon receiving this conditional approval the Ontario Ontario Hydro will then hold public meetings to out line the proposal for the Darlington Station. Following the hearings hearings the Ontario Hydro will then seek final approval of the site. This step is then to be followed by approval of the Provincial cabinet with final approvals from the Energy board for a construction licence and lastly for an operation licence. So far the Town of Newcastle Newcastle council has turned thumbs down on the proposal to place any nuclear plant in the Town and has held by this stand most recently when Otnario Hydro asked if the Town would appoint members to a Liason committee with Hydro.
