Lyall of Newcastle Village will not be contesting the June 19th Conservative Nomination meeting called to select a Tory standardbearer for the new Durham East Riding in the coming Provincial election. election. Mr. Lyall announced his decision Monday following a statement that he made three weeks ago that he would be in the race. He blames the type of nomination meeting that will be held and the lack of Conservative organization as the recisions for his action. According to Mr. Lyall, the Conservative nomination meeting to be held in the Bowmanville High School, Thursday evening June 19th will be a delegated meeting whereby only delegated persons persons will have the right to vote for a candidate. Ordinary Conservative members attending attending the meeting without delegate status will not be able to cast a ballot for the candidate of their choice. He further stated that the haste to hold the nomination meeting on June 19th is not in order. According to the Board Accident claims life of Lois M. Lycett A two-car accident on Friday of last week claimed the life of 68-year old Lois Matilda Lycett of 258 King'St. E.. Bowmanville and formerly formerly of north of Orono. The accident happened on Highway Highway No. 2 near Martin Road, just west of Bowmanville. According to police the Lycett car was travelling east on Highway No. 2 when the accident happened around 5.15 p.m. The other, car was travelling west with the accident happening in the west lane. Patrick Russell driver of the second car was admitted to hospital with minor injuries. member W. H.
