The annual meeting of the Ganaraska Region Conservation Conservation Authority last Tuesday gave approval for the exercising exercising of two options for the purchase of land. The meeting approved the purchase of a garage and 4 acres of land in the flood plain in Port Hope alongside the Ganaraska River. The purchase purchase price of $40,000 for the land and buildings along with a greenbelt development cost of $8,000 is to be shared by the Town of Port Hope with 25 percent, the Authority ll percent and the province with 66 percent. The purchase has the approval of the Conservation Conservation Branch of the Ministry of Natural Resources. The second parcel of land now having Authority approval approval as well as approval from the Ministry of Natural Resources is located in the north-east corner of the Town of Newcastle. This parcel of 92 acres is to be purchased at a price ,of $46,000. The property will be put under Forest Agreement for management management with the Ministry of Natural Resources.
