Union members voted 126 to, 19 to accept the agreement settled between the negotiating teams. The settlement calls for a $1.29 increase or 14 percent bringing the average hourly wage to $6.00. ' CANDIDATE SPENDING RESTRICTED A new federal law limits the amount of money a candidate can now spend on his campaign. The limit in the Durham Northumberland riding has been set at around $27,000. Limits have also been set for political parties who may, spend up to 30 cents per elector in all electoral districts in which the party has candidates. Candidates now, under new regulations, may be reimbursed for up to half of their expenses in accord with regulations. ONTARIO HYDRO INCREASES RATE ^ Ontario. Hydro has notified local municipal utilities that the cost of hydro will increase in 1980 by a proposed increase of 9.5 percent. This will affect hydro rates in the Orono system.
