Wednesday, July llth, 1979 Orono Brownies at camp n Last Tuesday evening thirteen thirteen adventureous Orono Brownies and five leaders left for camp Adelaide, a few miles east of Haliburton Village. The group stayed in a lodge on the grounds which they used for sleeping, eating and for making crafts in. Black Lake served as a refreshing swimming place for the girls who worked on different badges like swim ming and cooking plus many others. , Meals were often something something different. One night the brownies ate in reverse meaning they ate dessert first then went on to the first course. Another night they ate with the theme of Magic Castles. This entailed eating with fingers and elbows on the table and dressed in proper attire for the era. Some are hardy, some fragile arid delicate and some bruise easily. Some flourish anywhere anywhere and are not easily discouraged. The rose has a queenly beauty - yet there has been a fight against frost, drought and insects. In Spite of this struggle, true beauty radiates .from within. A small, browri bulb, drab and dry, is left to the elements - the wind, the sun, and the rain, and God brings yellow sunshine in early springtime - the daffodil. It radiates cheer. Can we too, when there seems no apparent reason to believe cheer can come from situations, situations, blossom forth as a light in a dark place? The gay daffodil has a mighty lesson to teach. "Be of good cheer' ', Jesus often encouraged. Trusting Him, we too will be cheered. Is there any perfume comparable comparable to the lilac?. They radiate hopefulness, like the tulip; arid their witness from a : spirit-filled life, inspires those around them, , • The daisy, in its white dress with-heart of gold, gives of itself in friendly fashion without guise or pretense. The daisy reminds us of the heart - of gold folks, who in simple, honest, dependable ways, labour for Christ, without thought of reward. Like the daisy, they share themselves freely in glad service and honest toil. We need many daisies in life's garden. The message of the flowers can grace our daily lives in " purity, cheer, modesty, fragrance fragrance and endurance. The gardens praise their Maker. May our daily conduct do likewise, as we bloom in His great garden of life. Flowers create harmony and beauty. Each variety blooms happily according to its own nature - so may we. Offering was received. Mrs. Touchbrirn closed the Devotion Devotion with a prayer. Mrs. D. Barnett and Mrs. G. Carson sang a duet, "In the Garden", with Mrs. Touchburn as pianist. Mrs. Lois Brown presided and conducted the business part of the meeting. Mrs. R. Morton played a' tape recording, "Çool in the Furnace", with Mrs. A.
