Fairies (not in order), Jenni- Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, April 8th, 1981-7 Health standards for fall fairs Dr. Ted Watt, Regional Health Officer, has stated that the Regional Health Unit wants minimum standards of the Public Health Act observed observed when it comes to serving food at local fall fairs. Watt started a controversy some two years ago when he sought changes for food handling at church suppers and poi-Iuck suppers. Watt states that the Regional Regional Health Unit has sent letters to all Fall Fair boards telling them there should be piped water to every food outlet and as well a holding tank should be installed for the sewage water. He said fall fairs are the largest remaining problem in the Region. He also feels that the boards have had ample time to correct the problems. The member also states they are a non-profit organization and do not have monies for such facilities. Watt in turn states they have three alternatives, meet the regulations, change their type of food service or find some other means of raising money.
