Honorary member E. Lynn Brown, P.Eng., O.L.S., has been recognized as an Honorary Member of the Association of Certified Survey Technicians and Technologists of Ontario (ACSTTO) at their recent convention in Sudbury. Mr. Brown has served on the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors/ACSTTO Liaison Committee since 1975 and was Chairman of that committee committee in 1978 and 1979; he is also the current Chairman of the ACSTTO/AOLS Certification Certification Board having served served on this Board since 1977. This Honorary Membership is only the seventh ever presented by the ACSTTO, the last one being in 1974. Lynn is also active locally, being the Vice Chairman of the Port Hope D.B.I.A., Secretary of the Channcliza-: tion Liaison Committee and when time allows a member of the Port Hope Chapter of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. (Barbershoppers). Lynn is President of Sylvester & Brown Limited an Engineering & Land Surveying Practise in Port Hope. New exotic race cars at Mosport The debut of several exotic new racing cars, the opening of the 1981 Can-Am auto racing racing series and the third round of the North American Formula Formula Atlantic Championship will pack three days of feverish activity into Mosport's Molson Can- Am/Atlantic Weekend, June 12, 13, and 14. Three*Jime Indy 500 winner winner A1 Unser heads the listof favourites in the Molson Can-Am when he debuts the March-Chevrolet 871, one of two to be entered by Paul Neuman. The second will be driven by Italy's Teo Fabi. Another car making its debut will be A1 Robert \s CRC-2, a development of the car designed and built by Hobert which carried himsto two Can-Am victories last season, the first time a US- built car has won a Can-Am race since 1966 when Phil Hill won at Laguna Seca, California California in, one of Jim Hall's Chaparrals. Attempting to, turn the clock back to the days when >w Zealanders Bruce --icLaren and Denny Hulme terrorized the Can-Am in McLaren-built cars, Kiwi native Graham McRae will traduce the new Skoal Ban- _ <t McRae GM-9 at Mosport. McRae's ^previous successes have been at the wheel of open-wheeled Formula ,5000 and Indy type cars, however this entry into the field of full-bodied Can-Am cars is a new departure for him which has the full back- ■ ing of Burt Reynolds and film 'producer Hal Needham. One Can-Am entry not previously seen at Mosport jvill be the Frissbee, a replica of the car which A1 Unser drove to victory in last year's Laguna Seca Can-Àm, to be * driven by California racer Rpcky Moran. Several other teams are rushing to finish new designs for the Mosport season o'pener however they may be forced to use last year's cars as backup. Among thesfe are the defending Can-Am Championship team of Lola importer Carl Haas whose new Lola T-532 is not expected expected to be ready in time.. Instead Haas'will have last year's model T-530, the car which won six races including last year's Molson Can-Am at Mosport in the hands of two tin* Can-Am Champion driver Patrick Tambay. The Haas Lola will be piloted this year by former Formula Atlantic veteran Jeff Wood. A second backup car entry will be Australia's Geoff Brabham whose last year's VDS Lola T-530 will see service service instead of his team's new VDS-001. Brabham who drives for the Belgian Count van der Straiten, placed fifth in the recent Indy 500. The featured Molson Can- Am takes the green starting flag at 2:30 pirn. Sunday while there will be a-feature race Saturday j for Formula Atlantic cars which starts at 3:00 p.m. Canada's Jacques Villeneuve heads the entry list of drivers from Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. After two Heather Sawyer competes well Heather Sawyer of Clarke High School competed in the Ontario Federation of Secondary' Secondary' School Association track and field championships championships over the past week-end in Thunder Bay. Heather, from all reports did well in the Ontario competition competition bringing home two thirds and a fourth. She threw the javelin a distnace of 40.62 metres in the Junior Girls division and in the same division with the shot put reached a distance of 11.60 metres.
