WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle DEEMS it advisable to amend Restricted Area By-law 1592, as amended, of the former Township of Clarke. NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporatiop of,the.Town of Newcastle Newcastle ENACTS as follovys:, 1. Appendix 1 of ByHaw 1592, as amended, is hereby further amended by deleting Section 1 (j) in its entirety and replacing said section with the following new subsection 1 (j): . 1 (j) Farmer Retaining Lot Notwithstanding any provisions of this By-law to the contrary, a bona fide farmer, whose chief source of income is derived from farming operations, consisting in whole or in part of growing crops, raising cattle or livestock, or operating a dairy farm, in an agricultural zone may, with the permission of the Land Division Committee and in accordance with the provisions of this By-law for "RR" zones, retain a retirement lot from the sale of his farm and erect or use thereon a single family dwelling or may create a lot for one member only of the farmer's, impiediate family provided such person is employed or significantly assists in the operation of the farm." 2. BRUCE HENDRY DURHAM EAST DELEGATE- The Durham East Dairy Farmers met Tuesday evening, November ,10th, in Orono and elected Bruce Hendry, Welcome, as official delegate, and Ralph Farmer, Blackstock as alternate, alternate, to the Ontario Dairy Herd Improvement Corporation Corporation Annual Meeting on January 12, 1982 in Toronto. The DHIC, as it is now known, has taken the place of the original Dairy Herd Improvement Association in Ontario, which was originally operated by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture & Seminar on Micro- computers at Durham College On November 27 and 28 the Durham College Conference Conference Centré is presenting the opportunity to see the latest in Micro-Computer Technology. Knowledgeable . leaders in the field will speak on the progress that is being made and the "present state of the art." There will be 20 seminars covering such topics as "How to Select a Micro," "What can a Micro Do?", "Computer "Computer Assisted Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), "Waterloo Food. DHIC is now a private company with directors being elected by the Dairy Farmers of Ontario. The pürposé of DHIC is to provide butterfat and protein testing 'and through these provide the Dairy Farmers with information information to aid him in selection of 'breeding stock, for the herd. : Guest speaker for the evening evening was Lome Small, General Manager of DHIC. He outlined the operation Of the new Corporation and discussed discussed the use of Sometic Cell Count in mastitis control in the dairy cow. Bowmanville Museum prepares for Christmas The two most popular events of the Bowmanville Museum's year are coming up this month and next at this stately building on Silver Street in Bowmanville. On Saturday, November 21, just as soon as the parade float bearing Santa Claus has passed its front door, the Friends of the Museum will hoM their annual sale of unique, unique, hand-crafted gift items. This year besides the familiar pine wreaths will be dressed dolls, table decorations, tree trims and even specialty baked baked items all ready for freezing for the festive season. Tickets can be reserved now by calling the Museum at 623-2734 for a shopping expedition expedition to Scarborough Town Centre on Saturday, December 5. The bus will leave the Museum at 8:45 a.m.,-returning at 4:00 p.m. There are only 40 seats available so early reservations are a must. The by-law stipulates that sifch a lot is to conform with the provisions of the "RR-Rural Residential" Zone provisions.
