Oronu Weekly Times, Wednesday, June 8,1983-5 Library organizes summer reading club Hey kids! The Bowman- ville Public Library is having a Summer Reading Club. For the dog days of summer there is nothing more purrfect than curling up with a good book. Come to the library and meet a new friend, read some good books. Children interested in the reading club must' be 8 to 12 years old and pre-register in the Library in person. The Reading Club will run every Tuesday afternoon, 2:30 to 3:30 in the Library Auditorium from July 5 to August 2. The use of individual individual wells rather than a municipal supply and distribution system requires that the number of lots now being considered, 44, would ■have to be reduced to 22. In a report to' the committee, committee, Terry Edwards, Director* of Planning, pointed out that after a number of meetings no one wanted to take the initiative initiative to undertake a municipal .supply of water that is a requirement of the Durham Official Plan for residential development, in the Hamlet of Enniskillen. As a result developers have asked for amendments to allow the use of individual wells. The committee have sent the proposal to council for approval at such time and the Council of the Region of Durham has considered the amendment to the Enniskillen Enniskillen Hamlet Development Development Plan. Green light given handi-capped parking The Town of Newcastle General Purpose Committee on Monday gave their approval approval to a Handi-Capped Off-Strçet Parking proposal brought before the committee committee by the Director of Public Works, Ron Dupuis. The Town is to co-operate with other agencies in providing providing a'limited number of off-street parking facilities in Bowmanville, Orono and Newcastle. The proposal, if approved by council, will ' provide some $2,000 for the initial stage of marking and signing the proposed locations. locations. In most cases private agencies are providing the space for the off-street parking parking facilities. Spaces are to be provided at the Bowmanville Shopping Mall and at Memorial Hospital. Cowman said she was disappointed in that consideration consideration had not been given to ôn-street handi-capped, parking within the business areas where handi-capped could park when making a trip to the bank, etc. Dupuis said this was under consideration and that such would allow one carrying a permit to park temporarily in even a "no parking" zone. Top Dairy Herds in Durham East Announced: The 1982 Record of Performance Performance results have just been ' officially announced. Pier Sikma, R.R. 1, Orono, had the top Holstein herd with a Breed Class Average of 163 for milk and 177 for fat oh 23 official records. The Browview Farms herd of Gerald Brown had the second second highest Holstein BCA with BC'A's of 160 and 164 on. 40 official records. The top Jersey herd on ROP in Durham East was the herd of Carl Sargent & Sons, R.R. 3, Cavan with a BCA of 150 for milk and 152 for fat on 39 records. The highest BCA for Guernsey's was recorded in the herd of Frank Fry, R.R. 1, Janetville with a BCA of 169 for milk and 157 for fat. * , i There is a total of 38 dairy herds on the R.O.P. program in Durham East and 33 herds on the Dairy Herd Program. In total, 75% of the dairy herds are on milk recording programs. We congratulate these top herds on their fine achievements in 1982.
