Work Crew (Continued from page 3) floor which has been a great improvement to the local hall. Currently and for the next week and a half the crew are at the Ôrono Armouries preparing the back portion of the building for the Orono Showcase, a co-operative of over twenty local crafts people, people, artists and antique dealers in the area. The crew have completed prchways joining the three fiçst-level floors and as well hâve provided a divider in the main auditorium of the building. Painting is proceeding proceeding throughout the building and is expected to be completed within the next few days. Following the painting the group will then tackle the floors expecting to sand and refinish. The program in the Town of Newcastle is part of a federal-provincial make work program in co-opération with The Town of Newcastle. The federal and provincial governments provide the labour costs while local grôups and the Town provide pqint and other required materials. The crew, which started April 18th, has completed repainting repainting of the Bowman ville Library, the Bell Building, the Darlington Sports Centre* the Newcastle Town Hall, the Orono Town Hall and are now working at the Orono Armouries building. Stan Jansma, heading the grbpp said the' program has been well received and a lot of people are happy over the refurbishing of local buildings. He also said it had been most interesting working working both in municipal buildings and cemeteries throughout the community. The Orono Showcase Cooperative Cooperative expect to be in operation in the Armouries building by the end of September. Two professional jurors and four inside the cooperative cooperative jurors will be judging judging the articles to be placed in the. store sometime in early, September. The executive of the group have prepared guidelines and standards which will be voted on at a general meeting of the Co-operative being held on August 24th. A recent meeting was found to be most informative for the group when Craig Drezen of the Ontario Craft Council attended a meeting outlining the operation and conduct of a co-operative.
