Hackett was the most valuable player this day with four goals one of them a breath-taking breakaway. Brett Maartense assisted B.J. twice. Mike Hutton ; Steve Wilson and Adam VanDam got points for making the other set-ups. Brett Maartense had a hat trick with B.J., Steve Wilsoti, Mike Hutton and Adam VanDam making the,assists. Guy Tousignant finished out the scoring with assists from Amy-Jane McAllister and Grant Esler. Orono lost its next game against Oshawa Lake Vista 3-2. Again it was a close game as Orono came back on goals by Guy Tousignant and Devon Witheridge to tie Oshawa 2-2 Only to be bested by Oshawa in the last minutes. Scott Sawyer, Greg Bull and Christ Mum- by made excellent plays to win points for their assists. Steve Wilson had an excellent day in goal,. Orono likes to play the close games as they managed a 1-0 win over a large Bewdley team and an excellent goalie. Grant Esler in goal made some N.H.L. moves in stopping stopping 3 breakaways. Amy-Jane (Wrinkles) McAllister, Devon Witheridge and Danny MacDonald had outstanding games and barely missed scoring, B.J. Hackett popped popped the winner with help from Guy Tousignant and Chris Mumby. Much improved skating by Steve Wilson, Steve Foster and Greg Bull has benefited the determined Tykes. Orono Holiday Juice Novice Hockey news Orono 5 - Ops No. 2 2 The Holiday Juice Novice "B's" overpowered Ops No. 2 on Saturday, Saturday, January 10th, on home ice in Orono. The first five minutes of the game was good end-to-end hockey, then at 4:16 Marc David put us on the scoreboard assisted by Ryan Winning and Jonathan Noble. With 27 seconds left in the period Jonathan Noble broke through the Ops defense to make good on his breakaway. Jeff Gates picked up a slashing penalty at 5:50 of the se cond wmcn tne Juicers were able to kill off. Tomas Wakefield netted one at 3:34 on a pass from Brian Hogenhout and Afnanda Haines to make it 3-0. Ops slid one past our netminder Steven Sargent ending his bid for another shutout. With seven seconds on the clock Danny Buttigieg picked up a pass from Wade Peacock and David Swan and fires it home for the Novice their efforts efforts to cinch the win on a pass from Scott MacDonald at 5:34. At 2:08 the Juicers were short-handed once more when Owen Taylor was given a penalty for body contact and again we were able t@ hold the opposition off. Good g allle team, but we must learn to stay out-of the "Sin Bin". Orono 4 - Ops No- 2 2 On Sunday, January Hth the Holiday Juicers travelled to Ops for a return game and came away the winner once again. Orono took the lead at 8:41 of the first when Ryan Winning netted one on his breakaway. We lost one of our players shortly after the start of the game when the flu bug managed to instill itself upon him. At 9:49 of the second Scott MacDonald counted for the Juicers on our second second breakaway of the game. The home team got on the board at 7:55 in their bid to get back in the game. The Novice "B's" not wanting to let them get the score to close decided decided it was time to get back that two goal lead thus Jonathan Noble put one in unassisted at 4:25. Ops ■ managed to come closer again at 3:32, but could not keep the two goal spread due to Scott MacDonald's MacDonald's counter at the 49 second mark assisted by Marc David. Steven Sargent had a good game between the pipes for the Novice "B's" making a number of good saves. Turning in a hard working game for the juicers were Owen Taylor, Danny Buttigieg, Tomas Wakefield, Brian Hogenhout, Amanda Haines, David Swan and Wade Peacock. Hope you are soon feeling better Jeff.
