Would rather call fire service from Orono A Darlington home owner has questioned calling the Bowmanvilie fire station for fire protection when in fact the Orono fire station is much closer to their residence. It was pointed out ■ that the Bowmanvilie station is located some 12 miles from the home while the Orono station is five miles away. It was pointed out that they were told they would have to call Bowmanvilie because they lived in Darlington Township and the Orono department could not cross the Townline because they did not service Darlington. The owner, June Smith, pointed out that she paid taxes to the Town of Newcastle not Darlington and that her insurance rates were 40 percent percent higher than if her home was protected by the service from the Orono station. Counc. Hamre questioned the existing existing boundaries and asked that these be reviewed by the fire chief followed with the submission of a report to council. This received approval approval of council.
