Ganaraska ready to sell Ball's Mill, Baltimore The Ganaraska Region Conservation Conservation Authority expects to have the Ball's Mill in Baltimore sold in the near future. Approval for the sale is now being sought from the provincial government which requires requires an order of council in cabinet. Paul Rapati of Toronto has made an offer to purchase for the mill and one acre of land. The property was purchased in 1971 by the Authority for $50,000 and since that time the Authoirty has been wondering what to do with the mill.. Hospitals must fend for themselves The recent budget changes did not allow,for money to be set aside to cover year-end hospital deficits. The Ontario Hospital Association has said that because the provinces will no longer bail out hospitals that have deficits, some services may have to be cut from individual hospitals. Hospitals are hoping to keep a balanced budget for the next year but unanticipated expenses may affect this budget. Most likely services that may have to be cut would be new out patient services such as nutrition programs. Need to first have Official Plan amendment The General Purpose committee of the Town of Newcastle turned aside an application by Tom Simpson Simpson for a rezoning to allow three residential units on part lot 20, concession concession 2 on Golf Course Road. It was pointed out that before council could consider a rezoning application the applicant must first seek an Official Plan amendment from the Region.
