Give Big Sisters the nod for student housing Big Sisters heading up a group of local agencies gained support from Regional council last week to open up a hostel for young students, 16 to 21 years of age. The plan must now have, approval approval from the province. The cost to the Region is set at $28.00 a day. Diane Hamre, social services chairman, said the plan is aimed at students who are homeless for one reason or another and would-have to live on the street and as well drop out of school. She said the plan would provide board and rqom along with counselling and allow them to remain in school and graduate with the benefit of gaining a better job.
