Association will present the second concert of the 1988-89 season at Eastdale Collegiate Auditorium, Harmony Road North at Adelaide in Oshawa. Sponsored by CNCP, Canada's leader in Telecommunications, the concert will feature Oshawa's own Daria Salemka, an outstanding soprano and Daniel Domb, an internationally internationally renowned cellist, along with the Oshawa Symphony, conducted by Winston Webber, in a varied programme which includes the popular William Tell Overture by Rossini, Tchaikovski's Variations Variations on a Rococo Theme, Wagner's Prelude to Die Meisters- inger and Rimsky-Korsakov's Hymn to the Sun and also his Car- piccio Espagnole. Daria Salemka, a. native of Oshawa, now makes her home in Waterloo, Ontario. A graduate of E.A. Lovell Elementary and Oshawa Central Collegiate Institute, Institute, Daria pursued her postsecondary postsecondary education at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo where she received her Honours Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance in 1984 and subsequently subsequently her Diploma in Opera in 1986. Daria grew up in a musically active active environment. She began singing with her family at the age of five years. Up to November 1984, she retained her family name "Salmers" but has since then legally legally changed it to "Salemka", her original Ukrainian family name. She was a vocalist in high school with the Central Dixieland Band (1980 National Champs), is a member of Simcoe Street United Church Choir, a past member and soloist of the former Oshawa Ukrainian "Trembita" Choir, guest soloist with Bill Askew's Band for Memorial Park concerts (1980-82) and featured soloist at Ukrainian Day festivities at Ontario Place in Toronto. Daniel Domb is an internationally internationally renowned cellist, both as a soloist and a chamber musician. Mr. Domb was born in Israel in 1944, where he began studying the violin with his mother at the age of seven. Four years later, after hearing the famous French cellist Paul Tortelier, Mr. Domb fell in love with the cello and followed Tortelier to Paris to study with him. He later continued his studies in New York, where Leonard Bernstein Bernstein selected him to appear with the New York Philharmonic. At the age.
