14-Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, December 20, 1989 . Kin - Kinette Ch ildren's Christmas party Christian Corner ,by Rev. Marg West At this special time of the year when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, let's keep our hearts and minds open to the needs of others. Acts 20:35, Paul is saying, "I have shewed you all things, (spiritual things) how that so labouring ye aught to support the weak (in faith) and to remember the words of the Lord, Jesus, how he said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive." Everyone likes to receive gifts, compliments, friendship, but there are those that don't have friends and friendship, and don't receive gifts or compliments. Some are not even going to have enough food on their table tor Christmas dinner, while most of us have an abundance of food, gifts, friends and joy. Jesus' reason for coming was completely unselfish. He came to give His life that we might have eternal life with Him through His shed blood. Could we at this special season think of some of the less fortunate and cause them to be blessed as we are. God will bless you for it and you will be Blessed in your own Spirit as you see the joy on the faces of those you help. Poverty is not only in the third world countries. It's here before our own eyes. God Bless You! Comments or Questions? Write Box 179, Orono.
