Mazda donates car to Durham College MVM Program Mazda Canada has donated a new Ma;jda RX7 to Durham College's College's Motor Vehicle Mechanic Apprenticeship Apprenticeship Program. This is the first one donated to a College in Canada. The presentation was made by Willi Blum, Mazda Vice- President of Parts and Service, at the Mazda Factory in Pickering. Receiving the car on behalf of the College was Joe Gagliardi, Dean of Economic Development and Owen Moran, Chairman of Technical Skills and Acting Principal of Durham's Ajax Campus. Budget forecast points to increases A five year budget forecast for the Region of Durham forecasts annual annual increases of 10 period for local taxpayers. Attempts to get a baseline health study underway The Regional Health and Social Services committee have asked the Region to formulate a committee to set forth terms of references for a baseline health study as it may relate to the operation of the Darlington Darlington Nuclear Generating Station. The committee would consist of the medical officer of health, the region's head of environmental health sciences, a provincial health representative, two members of Durham Nuclear Awareness, an Ontario Hydro representative and three concerned citizens with engineering, media and the environment environment background. A public corporation to oversee Seaton Place Last week Gary Herrema, chairman chairman of Durham, announced that the province was to setup a public corporation to oversee the proposed development of Seaton Place. Seaton is to be located on 9000 acres of provincially owned lands in north Pickering. The corporation could be appointed appointed sometime early in 1990.
