This was the case Friday night, at home against Omemee. The visitors, noti- cably outmanned and seemingly seemingly outmatched, proved to be a tough task for the Orono boys. The Lumber Leafs, opened the scoring just 16 seconds into the game as Dan Cowx blasted a slapper into the top comer for a q[uick 1-0 lead. Mike Trotman and Matt Reid drew assists. Dufferin Aggregate keep game close The Orono Leafs made good use of home ice, Friday night. After finally getting a chance to play in front of their hometown fans, the Aggies did not disappoint their fans or the younger players and their parents who stuck around for the game. The game was fast paced wi th lots of good passes, hard checks and goals. The final score of 5-4 for the Hastings team was not a disappointment disappointment to anyone (except, maybe the players who have a tremendous amount of pride) because Hastings will be playing at the "A" level as they have five players returning returning from Junior hockey. The Aggies are classified as DD The Orono players clearly demonstrated that they could play at this level. Their main weakness was the occasional breakdown in the system during during short handed situations. Hastings, like any high level team, capitalized on almost every opportunity. It was also noted by Coach Witheridge that the gqaltend- ing was outstanding as the , forwards swarmed the crease on several occasions only to come up empty. He was also quick to point out the solid performance of his blue-line corp. continued on Pg 12 Alibi's Orthard Bantams have a tough weekend The scoring prowess of the Allin's Orchard Bantams, seems to have gone dry for the time being as they played 2 close, low scoring games on the weekend.
