With 15 seconds left in the game, Daniel Hodgson tied the' game with an assist to Cam Delorme. * ' On January 12. Armstrong IGA battled Mr. Sub,' a Bowmanville team, to a 3-2 loss. All the goals were scored in the third period making this a really exciting game to watch, but behind the bench it was a little nerve- wracking. Both Leaf goalies were put to the test and did a great job. Midway through the third, Justin Westerink banged in a goal with an assist going to Daniel Hodgson. The Leafs' second goal was scored by Dustin Armstrong. That assist went to Cam Delorme. It was a pretty rough game with seven penalties, four of them to Orono. On January 19, the Leafs went head-to-head against Sunrise Cafe, taking their biggest loss this year. The Leafs have been within reach ' of winning every game this year, but often lose by one g,pal. However, a 5-1 loss is hard to take. Sunrise players were big, fast, hard-hitting and good shooters. Orono's Fudge and Hisson were pounded with shots throughout the game. Half-way through the third, with the Leafs down 4-0, Cam Delorme finally put the Leafs on the scoreboard. The assists went to Brock McGill and Kevin Bourke: The kids played a great game and worked hard. Bad luck and bad bounces were big factors in this loss, but, that's hockey Good Work, guys! Orono met Bowmanville on Jan. 13 and lost a close one, 3-1. Chris Lupel was the lone marksman assisted by Nickolas Hutchinson. Oil January 19, Jeff Mulder scored a hat-trick in a losing cause to Newcastle' #1. ■ Assists went to Brian Dillon, Katie Defmney and Francis Duquette. Allanna Tieknor and. Shawn Lowe provided" the team with some outstanding outstanding goaltending. Scott, Duquette, Matt Puddicombe, Alex Shkuratoff. Ryan Wood, Jon DeVries, Cory Konopka, Breanne Collier, Jesse Lambert and Brian Knapp were working hard. Playoff time for Allin's On Sunday night, Allin's Orchard Bantams faced a tough Fenelon Falls squad in Game One of a series. Orono looked slow after a layoff, but soon shook off the rust and dominated the game. Fenelon tied the game in the second period, but Orono's boys fought back with two more goals to take a 3-1 lead. Those goals were scored by Doug Garlick, (assisted by Mark Spiers) and Chris Moffat (assisted by Steve Hicks). In the third, Orono took a 4- 1 lead as Hicks scored from Kevin Ladoucer. Moffat potted potted his second of the game from Hicks midway through the period to open up a 5-1 lead. Fenelon scored 30 seconds seconds later to make it 5-2. From here, Orono completely completely took over, scoring four more times before the, final buzzer! ' Steve Hicks added his second second from Mark Spiers at 5:51 and Chris Moffat completed his hat-trick 17 seconds later from Evan Moore. Hicks then completed his own hat-trick, also assisted by Moore and Steve Burt. Moffat would add his fourth goal of this tilt before the end from Hicks and J. C. Beecroft. The dynamic duo of Hicks and Moffat combined combined for seven goals and 10 points to ensure Orono a convincing convincing 9-2 victory. -SW Tire Problast peewee hockey hockey club played two tournaments tournaments recently. Over the Christmas break, Orono competed at the Checkers tournament. The - team had an amazing run, winning gold in the "D" division. division. Adam Wood hit a career high, scoring 15 points in the tournament! This was a strong team effort with great goal-; tending and a steady defense. Paul Brownell and Jason Hoyne shared the goaltending duties and were awesome. Game #1 : Orono Was a convincing convincing winner over Roy Nichols. Adam Wood scored four goals. Josh Dobson, Kenny Jackson and Andrew Kirkbride notched singles. Assists went to Picco, Smit, Cox, Jackson, and Wood (2). Game" #2: Orono was shutout shutout 1-0 by St. Andrew's. Cox (2), and Justin Turner. 1 Congratulations, gold medal winners! On January 12, Orono went to Mahvers for an offer tournament tournament and finished "B" champio'ns. A strong defense makes a good offense. Nice work team! In.league play, on January 13, Orono lost a squeaker to Hane s, 2-0.
