They are scheduled to play game #3 on Monday night (past this newspaper's deadline) deadline) in Markdale. On Friday night, the Orono team travelled to Markdale for game #1. The boys stepped on the ice and showed no signs of rust, scoring first at 10:53 of the first period,. It was Bougie Garlick who scored from Steve Burt. Markdale tied it up before the end of the first and the two . teams were deadlocked heading heading to period number two. Ian Crashley shut the door on the opposition opposition as Orono took Game #1 by a score of 4-1, Mark Spiers had a penalty shot in this game but was unable to.put it by the goaltender. ■ On Sunday night, the boys were back in town and opened up a two-game lead in the Midgets over Newcastle The Orono Midget Leafs began their series with the Newcastle Stars on Sunday, February 10 in Newcastle. Kevin Martin played strong between the pipes to record the shut-out. Orono hopes to close out the series with a win in Markdale on Monday. Orono came out playing better in the third and were rewarded with a goal by Ryan Flomes with an assist going to Bob Witheridge, With just oyer three minutes left in the game, Ennismore was awarded awarded a penalty shot, but Orono's goalie Dusty Stapleton was able to stone the shooter to keep Orono within one. Never giving up, the Juvies kept pressing, and it looked like Jamie Party had tied the game with just over a minute remaining, but the referee mled that the .net had been pushed off before the puck entered the net. Sunday night saw Orono and Ennismore face off for game three in Orono. Ryan Homes again scored Orono's first goal on a power play with assists going to Jeremy Czechowski and Bob Witheridge. Then, early in the second, Bob assisted on Jeremy's goal, a second power play goal, to put Orono up 2 to 0. But before the second second period was over, Ennismore had tied the game and the momentum had shifted. shifted. The third period saw Ennismore score twice more to win the game 4-2 and take a 2 to 1 lead in the series. Game 4 goes Friday night in Ennismore at 8:00 pm..
