They have accomplished their goal of becoming All-Ontario Champions. They did so in impressive form too. Last Friday they traveled to Thedford for Game Five of the series. Coming into the game, the teams were knotted at two games apiece. However, Friday's game solved nothing as the teams skated to an exciting, 2-2 tie. The next day the series shifted back to Orono for Game 6. This was a huge game and was a must-win for both teams. Only one could win though, and it was Orono on this day. Orono was outstanding outstanding and demolished their opponents by a score of 6-0. The Leafs opened the scoring in Game 7 only 17 seconds into the game as Kyle A11 in scored from J.C Beecroft. Thedford, despite missing players due to suspension, tied the game later in the first period. Adrian Vasseur put Orono ahead by one early in the second, scoring unassisted. unassisted. Steve Hicks scored late in that same period from Evan Moore and J.C Beecroft to give Orono a two goal cushion cushion at 3-1. However, Thedford pulled within one before the end of the period. The two teams headed to the dressing rooms with Orono leading 3-2 and one period away from the championship. Thedford gave Orono all they could handle in the final period period and eventually tied the game at 3 with about five minutes remaining. Eleven seconds after Thedford tied the game, Evan Moore scored what would prove to be the game-winner on a pitch shot that confused the goalie and went over his head and into the net. This was all Orono would need as Chris Moffat scored late from his own blueline blueline assisted by Steve Hicks. That was how the game and the season ended, with Orono Wooden Carousel wins 'C' Championship TEAM TOURS AIR CANADA CENTRE The Orono Atoms won the C Championship in the playoffs playoffs by beating out Durham Regional Police Association 4-2. 'Golden Glove' Tanner Johnson played a spectacular game as he started between the pipes, using his glove for several saves. Because of his hard work, the first period ended 0-0. 'Hustler' Mitchell Harding put one in the empty net to make the score 4-2 for Orono. On Saturday, the Atoms had an exciting day as they traveled traveled to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The Orono Leafs watched the Toronto Maple Leafs practice' and then the Florida Panthers practice. They then had a grand tour of the ACC.
