Riggers, one of three pitchers for the Oshawa Stingers Fastpitch Softball Team, will be heading to the Fastpitch World Series in Columbus Ohio this weekend to play with the best in North America. Approximately 100 teams are scheduled to play at the national level tournament and Stinger's coach, Gary Vaughan, is hoping to place very well. Kendall joined the premiere premiere level ball team this year after her pitching coach saw her throw against 17 year- olds. "Ball is my entire life," stated the 14-year old. Terry Riggers introduced his daughter to softball nine years ago at the tender age of five. For the first four years she played house league ball then progressed to the rep ' level for a further five years, playing in Kendal, Cobourg and Leaside. Kendall rotates position between pitcher and outfielder, outfielder, but her passion is pitching. She consistently practices her swing, always trying to perfect perfect her speed, accuracy and change-up. According to Kendall, her fastpitch clocks in at 50-55 m.p.h., which she says is pretty fast for her age. Her change-up, a bail thrown with little velocity when the batter is expecting a fastball, is a skill that needs improvement, improvement, said Kendall. Coach Vaughan is happy to have her on his team. "She has strengthened our pitching staff and given it depth" he states.
