Dufferin Aggregate Juveniles capture Silver Stick For the second time in two years an Orono hockey team has won the prestigious International Silver Stick Tournament. Building on the success of the novice team from last year the " Dufferin Aggregate Juveniles came home with the hardware this past weekend after some stiff competition in Mooretown, south of Sarnia. Orono started strong on Friday with a convincing 5-1 victory over Wasaga Beach. Saturday's competition was not as successful as the team ran into penalty trouble in both games. In the opening game of the day they , only managed a 4-4 tie with Lucknow. Following this game, in the afternoorfthe team had a hard fought battle against Watford. In the final two minutes of the game with a man in the . penalty box, Polymer Extrusion's defence held off the Stantax attack as they had pulled their goalie for a two-man advantage. Evan Rosseau in goal for Orono was at his best keeping the visitors off the score sheet. Colin Earners playing his first game as forward made the most of the opportunity scoring scoring both goals for Orono. His first goal came midway into the first period with an assist going to Corey Peeters and Jacob Do 1 ley. In the second period Earners put Polymer up 2-0 with his second assisted assisted by Tyler Rich and Mitchell Jackson. Stantax kept the game close by scoring a goal in the last minute of the second period, period, but Polymer won the game 2-1. HM On Saturday, January 8th, Orono Atom Leafs #2 played their best game yet as they demolished Bowmanville's Home Building Centre 6-2. Josh Kelly was between the pipes showing off his golden glove. The first game was lost to a Clarington team 5-2, with Josh Canfield potting two goals assisted by Mitch Canfield and Cody Hughes. In their last two games before Christmas, Orono had a split winning 5-4 over the Mariposa Lightning and losing losing 3-1 to the Woodville Hurricanes. Last week the team was busy winning 3-1 over Omemee, 4- 0 over Beaverton, 1-0 over Sunderland and 8-2 over Millbrook.
