"I promised during the campaign that my vote would reflect the wishes of my constituents," constituents," said Oda. "Before a vote is held in Parliament, I will be using a variety of means to accurately gauge my constituents' views," she added. Oda has placed a brief questionnaire on the subject in her January householder. It asks two, Yes or No questions. They are: 1. Would you support legislation legislation allowing marriage between same sex couples? 2. Would you support legislation legislation upholding the traditional traditional definition of marriage? Constituents can . clip the completed survey from the householder and send it to her constituency office, postage free. The householder is being sent to every home in the riding. riding. Oda is also discussing the issue with constituents while in the riding and her staff will continue to track the views of constituents who contact either of her offices. "Paul Martin tried to shuffle shuffle this political hot potato off to the courts," said Oda. Instead they have handed this question back to Parliament to decide, and made it clear that it is Parliament's to deal with," she said. "Letting Parliament decide is exactly what the Conservatives Conservatives ran on in the election, in contrast to the Prime Minister's evasiveness. . And unlike the Liberals, v all Conservative Party of Canada's MPs will be allowed to vote freely on this issue," Oda concluded. cc Catholic schools rise to fundraising challenge The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Claring- ton Catholic District School Board has raised over $53,800 in only two weeks for the victims victims of the tsunami effected communities.
