The team first came up against Baltimore and beat them 8-2. Next up was the Trenton Golden Hawks. Ben Hinchey was strong in net for Orono earning the 4-0 shutout. Ian Third was a defensive force and has earned himself a fan club with his bulldog play. In OMHA quarterfinal play, the Country Cafe atom reps met the Otonobee Wolves, and fell three straight against their strong goaltending and aggressive play. Otonobee won 3-2, 4-2 and 3-2 in overtime. Earning points were Verkuyl (2g,la), Gibson (lg,3a), Haass (lg,la) Patrick McKay (lg,la), Walton (lg), Dennis (la)'and Robinson (la). Also playing well were Jennifer Mercer, Josh Gallina and Stefan Fabricius. VH Charlie Reid Midgets The midgets started the playoffs with a 8-3 win against Newcastle. Cam Delorme scored two unassisted unassisted goals in the first period. In the third period, Dustin Armstrong Armstrong scored first with Nick Williams assisting, followed by Blain Cox assisted by Jamie Stevens. Before the game was over, Williams scored again and Cam Delorme scored three more goals for a game total of five- goals. The second game in the playoffs ended in a 4-4 tie. At the end of the second Jamie Stevens scored our first goal assisted by Blain Cox to make it a 4-1 score. Justin West- erink scored in the third assisted by David Gray and Cam Delorme scored the last two goals to tie up the game. Matt Bester, Brent Burpee, Wade Clark, Josh Dobson, Tyler Skelton, Mike Whelan and Ken Jackson in net, all played a solid game. Stutt's Pharmacy Orono novice Leafs started the round robin part of the playoffs this weekend. On Friday the Leafs faced Bowmanville #7, which was the only team not to have a loss this whole season. Orono came out flying and scored first with Mitchell Trachsler finding the net, assisted by Tyler Trimble and Austin Cole. Bowmanville #7 scored early in the second to tie up the game, but then Cameron Reilly put Orono ahead again, assisted by Jack Kingston and Jimmy Chaplow. In the third, Danny Benedict rushed up the ice from defense and made it 3-1, assisted by Kale Stephens and Jacob Diamond. Reilly added an empty net goal from Chaplow to seal the game 4-1. On Sunday in Courtice, Orono faced Heron Chiro- pactic and won 7-0. Scoring were, Trachsler one goal and two assists, Reilly two goals, Diamond two goals, Trimble two goals. Once again our goalie Glenn Acorn had two fabulous fabulous games and stopped 25 of 26 shots. Our defense played heads up, smart hockey. Other members of the team are: Daniel Owens, Ryan Armstrong, Jacob Stere, Elizabeth Jackson and Lucas Crosby. All the kids have come together as a team and are playing great hockey!
