The Orono team posted a close loss of 4-5. In the first period, Cole Talbot flipped in the first goal unassisted at the halfway mark. Their opponent though followed with a quick goal to end the first period with a 1-1 tie. In the second period Josh Canfield's goal gave the Contractors the lead. Assisting on the goal was Connor MacVarish, and Cody Hughes. Enrolnet followed close again and made the score 2-2. Ryan Bain flicked in the next for Orono, assisted by Curtis Stainton. Enrolnet got the next two goals to take the lead away from the strong Orono team. Mitch Canfield closed out the period with a nice shot to tie the game 4-4. The third period went back and forth until the two minute mark when Enrolnet scored the game winner. Saturday March 12 was a better day for the Orono team. This time they came out on top and posted a 5-4 win over the Durham Regional Police Assoc, team in Courtice. Once the team woke up they commanded the play right up until the third period. Josh Canfield's stick was hot as he scored two unassisted goals 40 secs, apart towards the end of the first period to put the Contractors ahead 2-1. Orono owned the second period and went ahead 4-1 with two goals, the first one scored by Stainton, assisted by Billy Qualtrough and Bain. Canfield took home the hat- trick with his third goal, unassisted. unassisted. Unfortunately, the opponent sealed the win with a shot into the empty net taking taking the win. Other team members who contributed to play over the weekend were, Jessica Moore, Shane Battersby, Brayson Smith, Teddy Broome, Clayton Kapuscinski, and Jacob Lyle. Stutt's commanding win The Stutt's Pharmacy Novice Leafs played their third game in round robin series playoffs against third place Cactus Clothing on Saturday, March 12 and came away with an 8-0 win. The strong defensive play by Ryan Armstrong, Daniel Owens, Jacob Stere and Danny Benedict allowed the opposition only five shots on net. Glenn Acorn was rewarded rewarded with yet another shut out. The team came out to play and were on the score- board early with a goal scored by Kale Stephens, assisted by Cameron Reilly and Elizabeth Jackson. Danny Benedict scored the next goal, followed by Tyler Trimble and then Mitchell Trachslcr. Austin Cole played well as winger. The second period goals were scored by Cameron Reilly and Tyler Trimble. The third period belonged to Mitchell Trachslcr, with two goals. Next game for the Leafs is Sunday, March 20 at Courtice Arena at 8:00 a.in Evan Rosseau was unbeatable in goal as Orono Atom Team #1 defense put a blanket over . Clarington's Enrolnet to up their playoff round robin record to two wins and one loss. Polymer Extrusions traveled traveled to Courtice on Saturday to have a . rematch with Enrolnet, after the last time they met the game ended in a 3-3 tie. Jacob Dolley got the eventual game winner eight minutes into the first period on a two on one rush with Tyler Balson .setting him up for the goal. With Rosseau making some key saves in the first period to keep Enrolnet off the scoreboard, Mitchell Jackson added to Polymer's lead by scoring a pair of goals before the first was- over to give his team a 3-0 lead. Polymer Extrusions had control of the game and the better of the scoring chances in the second period but were unable to add to the lead until they were able to get a power play goal by Colin Earners with only minute left in the second. Assists on the goals in the game went to Balson with two, Jonathan Austin, Corey Peeters, and Nicholas Spires with one a piece. The defense pairings of Austin with Jamés McAlpine, Earners with Nicholas Rosamond, and Peeters with Landon Stutt played a major role in helping Rosseau get his first playoff shutout. HM Point.
