Think about the alternatives, we might have to write about Paul, Stephen, Jack, Dalton or John. Belinda is better. She is much more interesting, as she is super rich and can therefore buy most things, including a cabinet posting. Some people find her attractive; we would all acknowledge that she dresses beautifully and she speaks coherently. In addition, she has a most interesting interesting father: Frank. Frank is not one of those super rich who hide behind lawyers and P.R. firms. He and Belinda are upfront, outspoken and colourful. Paul, on the other hand, is looking tired and maybe is approaching exhaustion. Stephen and Peter MacKay look like death warmed over. That is fitting as they were stabbed right in their pride. That really hurts! Mercifully, Jolly Jack has been pushed into the background. So, Belinda is the only good story. . • Do you think this is being noticed in beautiful downtown downtown Orono? You bet it is! The riff raff at the Orono Cafe are totally up on the subject. Maybe Clifford is wrong, the riff raff apparently can read. That early morning group seems particularly interested in Belinda's dating. They suspect that she will be looking for a new boyfriend. That may explain why two of the riff raff have started to comb their hair,.and one has put on a clean shirt. The real attraction may be that daddy, Frank, owns many auto parts. The riff raff really love auto parts. The senior lady in the Ottawa Liberal caucus, Anne, has rushed to Belinda's defence. She points out that Belinda made a courageous decision, and Anne violently attacks the men who have made sexist remarks. Belinda herself says she was motivated by a desire to save Canada from the separatists. Most of us would applaud that. However, she could have done more on that score by staying in the Conservative party, to fight back the unholy alliance between our two right wing parties. Thus Belinda as the saviour of confederation is a bit ^A second consideration is that this deal was brokered by David Peterson. Hopefully, many may have forgotten - r that David was the least successful premier of the last 50 years. He led Ontario to the brink of ruin, and annoyed the voters to such a degree that we elected Bob Rae. Bob was highly ethical, but unfortunately his government was a disaster. David's ethics were frequently questioned. Now David is leading Belinda into the liberal party at the very moment that party is being investigated for bribery, fraud and misuse of taxpayer's money. Let's be clear, what David and Belinda were really plotting was an eventual attempt by Belinda to buy her way into the top ranks of the Liberal party. Fathei Fran tried to buy the leadership 15 years ago. Is it now the time for the daughter to try? Come to think of it, she might do better than Paul. For that to happen, however, we would have to get. over our revulsion brought on by the fact that evetything is for sale in Paul Martin's Ottawa. Had Belinda not been rich, and had Frank not been a potential huge donor, would she have become an instant cabinet minister? So the Ottawa saga continues. The G ornery • Commission, which is costing you and I money, continues to try to find some shred of honesty, or integrity in the Liberal party. The commission hasn't found any yet. _ Unfortunately, we arc not seeing any in Paul, or from ins newly appointed cabinet colleague as Paul continues to say anything, spend any amount (of our money), and take in anyone, in his increasingly desperate attempts to remain Prime Minister. We need new, honest leadership at several levels ol Government. Letter to the Editor Pride of ownership Dear Editor: Pride of ownership has been displayed in Clarington. Lawn grass has been cut at locations 5681 Acres Road and 5531 Bethesda Road respectfully. Yours very truly, Albert Werry Enniskillen
