EA Specialist - Child and Youth Worker (CYW) 30 hrs/wk - School Year Positions are available in the following geographic areas: West - Newcastle/Bowmanville Central - Port Hope/Cobourg East - Brighton/Campbellford North - Peterborough area QUALIFICATIONS: • CYW diploma from an accredited community college or equivalent (e.g., Behavioural Psychology, SSW with behaviour experience) • minimum two (2) years experience in a behavioural setting, or working with the social and emotional needs of children • sound knowledge of child development and a range of behaviour management interventions • demonstrated ability to effectively organize, and independently or co-operatively run small and large groupings of children • excellent verbal and written communication skills • Non Violent Crisis intervention training will be required • First Aid and CPR are assets DUTIES: • identify, design, promote and implement activities and programs that address students' behavioural needs as determined by school personnel and administration • initiate small group preventative, and re-active programs that address skills building, and specific issues as determined by school personnel and administration • communicate with parents/guardians and involved professionals regarding student • communicate with Principal, Teacher and other Board personnel regarding students' social/emotional/behavioural development • monitor and support students "at risk" as identified by Board and school personnel • resource school and Board staff, and the community, regarding social, emotional and behavioural strategies as required • plan, organize and implement activities for non-structured time blocks (e.g., recesses and lunch time) • other duties as assigned : - A Police Records Check, and Tuberculosis Test, is required of all individuals hired by the Kawarthp Pine Ridge District School Board. Successful candidates for the CYW positions will Be required to undergo a Functional Abilities Evaluation, which includes their ability to lift and carry, to determine their ability to perform physical aspects of the job.
