The Clarington Board of Trade is once again asking shopkeepers across the municipality to create scarecrows (for the fall event) that reflect their line of work. Between September 15 and October 4, the community will be invited to tour the municipality and enjoy the displays while they learn about Clarington industry. industry. This festival is designed to bring businesses of all types together to promote promote awareness of Clarington's diverse agricultural, professional, retail and industrial enterprises. For those interested in participating, use whatever materials you can find: your scarecrow can be as simple as a broomstick and a bucket with clothes - the possibilities are endless. Here's your chance to show your creativity and skill. Participation in this event is free to all local businesses in our community. Home businesses are definitely invited and encouraged to join in the fun. Over 50 businesses participated in the previous years. The Board of Trade hopes to see that number double in 2003. "I look forward to seeing this year's crop of scarecrows," says Sheila Hall, Administrator of the Clarington Board of trade.
