Sponsored graciously by Di's Pizzeria, with coach Darrell Bourke, assistant coach Colin Bourke, trainer Leo Beenen and manager Ange Beenen, Orono Bantam #2's season is promising. Orono features Kenny Jackson (G), Brock Dunham (G), Dustin Armstrong (C), Denis Beenen (C), Kevin Bourke (D), Wade Clark (LW), David Gray (RW), Chris Grant-Lupel (LW), Brian Hampson (RW), William Huebert (D), Andrew McClatchey (LD), Tom Meester (D), Noel Snow (LW), and Coiy Veloce(D). Game #1 took place on Oct. 11. Dustin Armstrong scored thirty-one seconds into the game and Orono never stopped. Two more goals came from Kevin Bourke, two from David Gray, one from Brian Hampson, one from Chris Grant-Lupel, and another two from Dustin Armstrong. It was an explosive game, with almost everyone getting on the game sheet. Kenny Jackson kept Newcastle #2 to only one goal in a final 9-1 victory. Top player of the game was Dustin Armstrong, posting six points aiid valiant teamwork. Orono #2 played their second second game on Oct. 25. Again Orono came out explosively, but not as quick as the first game. Bowmanville #3 (Orange) got on the board first - only one minute and seven seconds in. That did nothing to weaken Orono's spirits. One minute and forty seconds later, from Brian Hampson, Orono tiéd the game and again, never looked back. Orono finished the first period scoring five goals, three of those being Brian Hampson's and two belonging to Dustin Armstrong. Another great game from Kenny Jackson and Brock Dunham, keeping B3 to only three goals. Brian Hampson finished the game with four goals in a surprising explosion from the right winger. Fantastic effort from the entire team. Brian Hampson was the player of the game. Orono played their third game the next night in the new Courtice arena. They were visitors to Bowmanville #7 (Gray). In a rough, hard-hitting game, Orono had their work cut out for them. Wade Clark opened the scoring in the first, in a scramble in front of the net, assisted by Denis Beenen. Late in the second period, Orono scored again on a Brian Hampson shot, assisted again by Denis Beenen. After that, Orono fell asleep allowing B7 to score fiVe unanswered goals, four coming in the third. As a last ditch effort, Dustin Armstrong brought the game within two with a minute remaining, but too little too late. B7 kept the score to a final of 5-3 and Orono #2 was dealt their first loss. It was a great game for the whole team, especially for the goalies who kept the game from being 20- 3; they saved the team more than once in this game. With a goal, hard checking and gritty determination this game's "player of the game" goes to Wade Clark. -submitted by C. B.
