Luckily for Detox, the Bakery boys weren't playing their usual fast paced game. Mark Spiers opened the scoring scoring with a pass from Tyler McKenzie. Detox came back skirmishing in front of the Orono net to slide a quick goal past Shane Winters. The second period belonged to Orono, however, as Spiers followed his first goal with three more and Garrett McDonald added to the tally with his own successful shot on net. Assists went to Doug Deboo, Garrett McDonald, Jo^h Flynn ,and Andrew Fudge. Detox welcomed a goalie onto the ice for the third period and valiantly tried to even the score. They were able to pop two pucks past Winters, but it was too little too late and Orono returned home with the victory. . Congratulations to Detox who played a clean, fast-skating, aggressive game in less than perfect circumstances. circumstances. -by SX f-lrvi v?.v>.n7 r i {}V.)V Polymer Major Tykes tie OPG, 4-4 The Orono Polymer Extrusions Major Tykes met their match when they faced off against Ontario Power Generation Saturday morning, having to settle for a 4-4 tie. Ontario Power Generation jumped to an early lead, but Orono came back to tie it up with a goal by Tate Simpson, assisted by Trevor Greenwood. This was a game that kept the fans on the edge of their seats watching the end-to-end action. Orono took the lead mid way through the second period but OPG managed to tie it up in the third and held on until the clock ran out. Orono's Jacob Diamond netted two goals and Cameron Reilly scored the other; Owen King, Lucas Crosby, Mitchell Van Schyndel and Connor Began each received an assist. Mitchell Trachsler had a great game in net and played a big part in Orono coming way with a tie. Many thanks to our families and friends who are always there to support the team.
